Stoked for WWDC 2012

Tomorrow afternoon is Apple’s annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC). If you’re a big Apple fan, like I am, you’re stoked for the WWDC Keynote where Apple reveals their newest products. This will be the first WWDC Keynote since the passing of Apple founder and CEO, Steve Jobs. Tim Cook will be taking the reigns this year and I look forward to seeing his presentation style.

I don’t know if I can remember a WWDC where it seems like there are so many Apple products that are rumoured to be arriving. Surely Apple can’t cover them all?! Here’s a rundown:

  • Introduction of iOS6 which will include Apple’s own Mapping System (opting out of Google’s) and will have some kind of cool 3D map, and User Profiles for iPad
  • Improvements to Siri, which in my opinion works pretty good but is pretty limited. The word is that Siri will be opened up to third-party developers so hopefully soon I can ask Siri “What happened in the Penguins game?” and she’ll tell me.
  • We’ll finally get Siri on the iPad.
  • Speaking of iPad, even though Steve Jobs was outspokenly against it, it looks like Apple will release an iPad Mini with a ~8″ screen.
  • New MacBook Pro with Retina Display
  • New iMac
  • New Mac Pro (Finally!!!)
  • Apple’s next operating system OSX Mountain Lion with Facebook integration
  • The long awaited Apple HDTV
  • Apple might be bringing back the MacBook lineup to sit between the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro
  • New iLife and maybe they’ll manage to revive iTunes’ Ping with Facebook integration

My predictions are that we’ll see the new operating systems iOS6 and Mountain Lion as well as a new iLife package. There will be all new MacBook Pros with retina display, new iMacs, and new Mac Pro’s.  We won’t see a new iPad Mini or Apple HDTV but they will be coming and no doubt will sell like crazy.

Enjoy the show!
